This is a story I wrote in third grade, so some characters in this may be outdated, there may be grammatical errors, or basically anything may be off... However, I will NOT be changing these, as I want people to see what my old writing style was like.
Crystal Eyejewel and Marissa rarely get a chance to talk to each other, due to usually having major stuff going on while talking, like when they are on the streets…… DANGEROUS, or, well, Book Club, and other serious events. It took awhile, but they finally managed to come up with a time to chat. Marissa decided for their meeting to be at the ice cream parlor. Unexpectedly, Pixedust was there, along with two odd looking birds. Marissa squinted, hoping to get a further glimpse of them. But, then, she just… disappeared.
Marissa put her eyes off the scene as Crystal walked by. Crystal was carrying what looked like a geode with a pink sparkly bit on it. When Crystal sat down, she started fiddling with her phone. “So... Crystal, how are you?” said Marissa with a worried tone. “Fine” said Crystal. Marissa wasn’t sure about that, she had heard that voice tone before. Then, Crystal let out a long sigh. She then stared at Marissa, her blue-gem eyes gleaming.
“I lost my house”
Marissa gasped at that. Everyone stared at the scene, and Crystal cried and ran away. Marissa tried to stop her, but it was too late, she vanished. Crystal ran as fast as her little legs could carry her, she ran through the woods, through the meadow, and found herself in front of Big Books house. Crystal knocked on the door, and it slowly opened.
Carefully coming in, she ran into the basement and covered herself with a blanket. Big Books opened the basement door and moved the blankets. She softly grabbed her right hand and brought her to the living room. Pixedust was there with what looked like two birds with fire colored feathers.
Pixedust smiled as she saw Crystal come in the room. Big Books grabbed a cotton blanket, handed it to Crystal, and sat down. “Did you lose your house?” Big Books asked. Crystal nodded slowly and sighed slowly. “Also my real name is Christine Gem” she said.
“Christiny Gammy?” said Pixedust.
“No, Christine Gem” said Crystal.
One of the fire feathered birds chirped and landed on Crystal’s head. “What are these?” asked Crystal. “Those are phoenixes, they live forever” claimed Pixedust.
“Phoenixes actually just renew themselves each year by setting themselves on fire!” said Big Books. Crystal didn’t know that before, so she just nodded happily.
The bird just sat on Crystal’s head as she explained the story. After the last sentence, the bird jumped off of her head, and Crystal shook herself off.
“Too bad Sigrid and Kennedy are at camp, they surely could help” said Big Books wisely.
“Flicker and Fire Gem are out trying to find out where the bugs are coming from, so that’s a butter” said Pixedust. “Bummer” corrected Big Books.
“Maybe you should go back to Marissa,” said Pixedust “she always lends a helping paw.”
Crystal nodded and headed back to the ice cream parlor. There was Marissa, with two chocolate ice cream cones, just for them. While eating their ice cream, one lick at a time, Marissa saw something strange, a purple cat with pink arms. The only cat she knew like that was MB, but… she doesn’t wear pink sweat shirts or blue skirts…. Wait a minute… that’s... could it be… “ROCKY!” shouted Marissa and Crystal together. Rocky was out in MB’s HQ for months now and hasn’t come back, so they were thrilled to see her again.
Rocky carefully unzipped her pink sweatshirt that made her arms pink, took off her blue geared skirt, and her purplifier, that made her purple, and put on her usual orange sweater-vest and flower skirt. Rocky took out her pink cell phone and appeared to be calling someone.
“Who’s she calling?” asked Crystal.
Then, Marissa’s phone rang. “Of course, RIGHT when my cell phone bill is at 3,009 dollars” Marissa groaned. “I’m NOT picking it up” said Marissa angrily.
Rocky hung up, winked, and came over to their table. “I didn’t mean to call Marissa, I meant to call Crystal” she said apologetically. Rolling her eyes, Marissa went back to her ice cream.
After finishing their ice creams, they headed home, but Crystal didn’t have anywhere to go. Well, she still HAD a house… but, she… DIDN’T have it at the same time now. Crystal walked to where her home once stood, and stared at the weird engravings on it. Rather then it being shaped like a normal building, it looked more like a giant mansion with an elevator door.
She pictured what Flicker would say: “Try roller-skating; it always cheers me up, just by skating in doors.” Considering the daydream, Crystal took out her emergency roller skates and skated into the door. But, when she came in the doors, they shut and she was she found herself in a metal cage.
Looking below, she noticed she dropped her cell phone. “Oh rat a tat rat tat drat” she said angrily. Rather than her usual sea blue sparkly gem eyes, her eyes turned deep blue and had a tint of red in them as she gazed at the cogs below.
Back at the ice cream parlor, Big Books was eating a hot dog with a lot of ketchup and mustard when she realized something was wrong. Some people thought Big Books was kind of freaky, she knew where people were at certain times. She knew that Pixedust was eating lunch with Little Books, Marissa was getting a better chair at the hospital and Rocky was next to Big Books.
Big Books right eye flashed CRYSTAL. She tapped Rocky’s shoulder and told her Crystal was trapped. Rocky was used to that stuff, so she wasn’t worried about Big Books. They ran to get Pixedust, and called Marissa to come over quickly, and they all ran to where Big Books sensed Crystal was.
They stared at the towering building, and shook as they saw the weird engraving on it. “I know secret messages, so I can read this easily” said Rocky. There were some weird pictures on it, so it obviously had meanings. “Ok that weird spinny thing means top, and the gear thing means cog obviously” said Rocky. “If I’m right, the message is “In order to retrieve your friend, you must twist in turn through this building, on the top of the building, surrounded by cogs, is your friend, find her, before the end, and look out for the duck, or you’re out of luck”
“Hmm, duck” said Rocky after reading the statement. “Duck?” said Big Books “I thought cogs eat oil” “She does have a pretty good point” said Rocky. “Remember doing that CEO? I almost got that silly oily drink in my eye!”
Pixedust giggled. She had never done a CEO before, nor CJ, CFO, or even a VP. She nearly had her sell suit, maybe Big Books would take her on a Guild Run soon. Well, first she needed to get Lure, because Rocky forced her to get it rather than trap.
“Pixedust, Pixie? PIXEDUST!” Pixedust shook her head out of the thought. Big Books was hovering her head on top of Pixie’s face, as if she was worried. This was one of the few times she had her motherly, heartwarming look on her face. Smiling at the thought, Pixedust got up and checked the time. The cream colored mouse clock glistened in her hand. A tooth was missing from the mouse’s smile, and the number 25 glimmered in the center of the clock.
“Uh oh” said Marissa looking at the clock “I hope we have Unites, SOSes, Summons, and Fires.” Feeling insulted as Big Books, Marissa and Rocky checked their Books, phrases and radars, Pixedust sat down with her eyes in her palms. In her mind she saw Flicker hugging her arm and saying kind words in her sweet, kind tone.
“SOSes” said Marissa. “CHECK!” “Summons?” said Big Books. “CHECK!” “Fires?” said Rocky. “CHECK!” Everyone stared at Pixedust. “Fine” she said. “Unites?” “CHECK!” “Okay, were good to go” said Marissa.
“WAIT!” said Pixedust. “I’m out of pixie dust, can I quickly go home?”
“She’s used this on me before, she is just scared” said Big Books cheerfully. “Well, let’s go!” said Marissa, pushing her wheelchair into the door. Everyone went in, and checked their clocks too.
The doors closed with a BAM, and they found themselves right in the middle of what looked like an Office A. There was a 4-in-a-row puzzle on the left, and a Minesweeper game on the right. As everyone knows, Pixedust is a big ball of energy, and ran toward the Minesweeper puzzle. “Pixie, I wouldn’t do…” started Marissa. But it was too late. Pixedust had already jumped on a tile. “That...” finished Marissa.
Four red lawbot skelecogs came around the board and Pixedust shrieked. “Yep, this is definitely a law office” said Big Books proudly. “Forget this being a law office Pixedust is DYING” said Rocky.
It was right, now 3 teeth were missing from the mouse’s smile, and Pixedust was spinning and nearly fell. Marissa sometimes fights with disks, so she grabbed three from her pouch, threw them at the biggest skelecog, and ducked quickly. Now 5 teeth were missing.
“I told you the “Number Cruncher” task would come in handy!” said Big Books pointing to Pixedust. Now Pixedust was nearly collapsing, and looked faint.
“Quick! We must hurry and go there!” shrieked Marissa.
Everyone ran over to Pixedust… well, Marissa rode her wheelchair there. “Remember, you don’t get gag credit on these” said Big Books “I will do an Opera, and you guys must wait” everyone nodded but Pixedust, who now was missing 7 teeth, and was almost on the ground.
Big Books grabbed out her Opera. The Opera shrieked so loudly that Pixedust nearly fell to the ground. Rocky tooned Pixedust and they ran off to the four-in-a-row puzzle on the left.
“Now just stay on the side this time Pixedust, ok?” said Rocky. “OK…..I guess” said Pixedust. Then after finishing the puzzle, they ran off through the doors.
“That’s odd, this was a building, not a Law Office” said Rocky. “I know, next it might be a Mint” said Big Books, who had done several Mints due to being a Loan Shark in CFO. Big Books was right, in front of them were five barrels. One had a Storm Cloud on it, (not useful for Pixedust) one had a Piano on it (useful for Pixedust) one had a Juggling Ball on it (useful for Pixedust) and one had a Birthday Cake on it (not useful for Pixedust) another had a Trap Door on it, (not even close to useful for Pixedust).
“Aw man, I can’t use any of these but the Juggling Balls or the Piano” Said Pixedust angrily. After they got their stuff, they ran forward, Pixedust nearly tripping, due to her clumsiness. Right in front of them, there were three cogs: a Money Bags, a Robber Baron and a Loan Shark (which Big Books is in CFO). They all came over there, shivering with fear. Marissa used a Foghorn, Rocky used a Trunk, and Big Books also used a Fog, and Pixedust just threw a Piano on the Robber Baron. Running away from the place, they all ended up in the middle of a labyrinth.
Back where Crystal was, her eyes back to turquoise, like when she is happy, she noticed there was a pink duck in a cage next to her. “Who are you?” she asked. “Are you talking to me?” asked the duck. “Yes, I am” said Crystal happily. “The thing is, no one ever notices me” said the duck “They don’t pay attention to when I’m dying in a VP, they don’t pay attention to when I max a gag, and even my own Doodle doesn’t see me”
“I know a girl who feels the same way” said Crystal. “Now I know how she feels.” “By the way, my name is Crazy Clover” said the duck. “I’m Crystal Eyejewel, but you can just call me Crystal” said Crystal. Crystal began to cry, she had trouble seeing the duck, the cogs, and the walls.
“Are you ok?” asked Crazy Clover “You don’t look so good” “I... I’m f...ffine” said Crystal, in a shaky tone. “Let me guess, you have a real name and Crystal is your nickname” said Crazy Clover. “My real name is Christine Gem” said Crystal “but…” it took a minute for Crystal to find the right words. “Because I’m blind, people call me Crystal Eyejewel”
“You’re blind?” said Crazy Clover “But how did you see me?” “I use my magic to see, but if I’m high above the ground, wearing shoes, or on certain materials, it’s hard to see” said Crystal.
“No wonder you don’t look so good, you can’t see” said Crazy Clover.
Crazy Clover hesitated, and said “I lost my sister years ago, and I haven’t seen her since, she ran away…” Crazy Clover’s eyes began to develop tears “She ran away because I’m Lureless.”
Crystal was surprised. She never knew of a Lureless toon before, only Trapless and Dropless. “Wait a minute, do you know anything about where she ran to?” asked Crystal.
“No, all I know is that it’s far away, and she likely is happy about it” said Crazy Clover. Crazy Clover took out a golden locket from under her shirt. She opened it up. Inside was a picture of two ducks, one was pink the other was cream.
Crystal recognized the cream duck, it looked familiar “Serious Clover” she said. “How do you know her name!?” shouted Crazy Clover. “I don’t know... I just...do” said Crystal.
Now, Rocky, Pixedust, Marissa, and Big Books were in front of 4 cogs, each one a Big Cheese, but one was a VERSION 2.0 cog. They all attacked them and ran away quickly. “Hey Big Books….” Started Pixedust, but her words were lost as soon as they were uttered. 1,000 Goons were running in front of them.
Big Books was a good Gooner, but she couldn’t attack this many without a crane, or with 8 toons. Clearly this was a master Factory, if there were this many goons. But… goons don’t have sparkly helmets and pink light bulbs.
“MB” whispered Big Books “these are Twinkle Goons, they are stronger then Goons, and I sense this is likely a Library.” They looked up. Hundreds of thousands of books were there, each one multi colored, with a nice, shiny caption. Some titles were: Journey to RW: The Story of Two Cousins, Crazy Kitties and Clovers, History of Magic Town and MB, and, most of all, The Story of MB.
“I read that one, its good” said Rocky, pointing to Journey to RW: The Story of Two Cousins. That book sometimes was read in history class, due to all its good information.
“How will we stop this many? We don’t have any cranes, and our magic is useless to those” said Big Books. The Twinkle Goons stomped across the floor, but one, had a green light bulb that glimmered and shimmered, and projected a star, heart, rainbow, and a book.
“The Ancient Emerald” whispered Rocky. The symbols moved all across the room. “I know what we have to do!” declared Big Books. She stomped on the one with the green light bulb. Replicas of the Ancient Emerald’s elements scattered across the floor. Big Books grabbed the ones with the star and book, due to those being the only ones they could use, and gave the star one to Pixedust. They held them to their heart and chanted: “heart beat power our soul, make the magic stop the tragic”.
All of a sudden, the Twinkle Goons vanished, and they ran ahead. MB stood right in front of them at the end of the path. “So, I hear this is your little blind friend’s house” she said, smirking.
“How dare you be mean to Crystal!” shouted Big Books.
“Well, isn’t that my job?” said MB, in a slightly bossy tone. Big Books nodded. She forgot that was kind of her job, being leader of most cogs.
Marissa stepped forward. “What are you doing here!” she said “Why did you do this to her house?”
MB put her face in her palms. Ignoring that, they decided to run away when they had the chance. “Hey, I’m not done with you yet!” shouted MB, but she was too late.
“We did one of each, but still no factory!” stated Rocky. “Surely we’ll see one next Rockin Rocky” said Pixedust. “Will you just call me Rocky?” asked Rocky “It’s a cute nickname and all, just it sounds to…. game related” Then, they stopped.
A whole hallway of Stompers was in front of them! “Is this just me or are we in another Mint?” asked Pixedust. Big Books giggled. “Well, in order to know, you need to know what’s on the other side.” “Right” said Pixedust.
At the end of the hallway, they saw two doors, one led to a lava room, one led to a hallway with a bunch of Goons. “Let’s do lava” declared Big Books. They all ran down it. After getting Gags, Laff, and Jellybeans, they ran down the other hallway. At the end of the hallway, they saw the maxed cog of each group.
Back where Crystal and Clover was, they started talking rapidly. “Wait THIS IS YOUR HOUSE!?” said Crazy Clover. “Yes, isn’t that weird?” said Crystal. They all began giggling. “Do you have any magic?” asked Crystal. “No, but I know that after the Great Rainbow War, a bunch of random people got magic and other things like that” said Crazy Clover.
“I know Big Books” whispered Crystal. “You do!?” said Crazy Clover “Can I have your autograph then?” Crystal giggled. “I’ll try” she said “But I have bad handwriting” Crystal tried to sign a piece of paper, and then they all sighed a long sigh.
After the maxed cog battle, Rocky, Big Books, Marissa, and Pixedust ran a bit around the room. “I wonder what the duck is, likely will see her or him on the last floor” said Marissa. Then they ran up a big staircase, and found themselves in a room with 4 assorted cogs, and two cages above them.
“Marissa, Rocky, Big Books Pixedust!” shouted Crystal. “Those are your friends?” asked Crazy Clover. “Yes” said Crystal.
“Let’s sound!” shouted Rocky. “Let’s do this” said Big Books, putting on her lucky sunglasses. “Sup” she said as she threw her Foghorn. They all danced. The cages came down.
“You saved me!” shouted Crystal. Crazy Clover looked sadly over at them while they did a group hug. “You too Clover!” said Crystal.
Crazy Clover jumped and came over to them. All of a sudden, they all floated, and landed right in front of Crystal’s house. It was back to normal.
“One more thing” said Crystal. She whispered something in Big Books’ ear. “On it” said Big Books. A rainbow swirled around them. They ended up on the electric land boarder. They came inside it.
“Serious Clover!” shouted Crazy Clover. “I knew you’d find me someday” said Serious Clover. “How did you know she was here?” asked Crazy Clover in tears.
“Flicker” said Crystal, winking.
“Flicker?” asked Crazy Clover. “Sounds like my roller-skating best friend” said Serious Clover.
“Your roller what best what?” said Crazy Clover.
An orange, flickering cat walked up. Beside her was a bright red cat. “Hey Flicker, hello Fire Gem” said Serious Clover. “I thought you were on that mission, or was it camp!” said Rocky.
“Well, we aren’t really here!” said Fire Gem. “We are only bringing us here for a few seconds because we have a gift” said Flicker.
Fire Gem held out her hand. Inside was a silver locket. “What’s this?” asked Rocky.
“A locket, we put a special picture in it for you” said Fire Gem “Open it, open it!”
They opened it. Inside was I picture of Flicker and Fire Gem saying in the moving picture ‘MISSING YOU’.
“We miss you too!” said Marissa dreamily.
The two cats vanished, and Crazy Clover said “Thanks for finding my friend; I will treasure you guys always too”.
“Hey guys, let’s go to the ice cream parlor and get some chocolate ice cream!” shouted Crystal. Then the girls had ice cream, and lived happily ever after.
THE END.
THE END.
